Internet Explorer 8: Open as web folder

Tried to do Open as web folder in Internet Explorer 8? You’ll have noticed the option isn’t there any more. It’s been removed. Apparently this is because they have done some work to separate  Internet Explorer from the Windows Shell.

There’s a way round this though. You can map a internet folder as a network drive. Just click map a network drive  like so:

Map network drive

Then, click ‘Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and Pictures’ at the bottom.

Map network drive

Follow the wizard that pops up and you’re done.

    This doesnt work 100% for me trying to connect to webfolders at my college managed via RM Easylink.

    The folder is created but I can only interact at the folder level. ie you can drag and drop files into folders on the web folder, but you cannot see down to the file listing.

    @Rhia

    I think I had the same problem when I first set this up. I think the problem was I hadn’t entered the full share name of the webfolder I was connecting. E.g. I put https://example.com/ instead of https://example.com/sharedfolder/. When I put the later it worked fine.

    Give that a try.
